Pneumonia Study -

We now have the requisit number of swabs from dogs who have not had pneumonia.
The next stage is to collect up to 25 dogs who have had pneumonia. Currently we have ten hounds swabbed.
If you can help, if your hound has had pneumonia, is in the UK and is at least four weeks clear of their last antibiotics, please do get in touch
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE INCLUDE SWABS FROM DOGS THAT HAVE HAD PNEUMONIA :

There is no charge to you as an owner. The costs are being met by the Health Group and other funding streams.
Swabs are taken by experienced trained veterinary students. Or, the cardiologist at the heart testing sessions.
To see a demonstration of a swab being taken from an Irish Wolfhound you can view the following videos. It takes no more than a minute, only a moments inconvenience for the dog having its mouth opened and no treat coming! The dogs must not have eaten anything at least two hours beforehand, but of course they can have a treat afterwards.
Any dog who is visibly distressed will not have a swab taken.
